Departments

The Road Department is comprised of two full-time employees, and part-time employees as needed. Their job is to maintain 28 mile of township roads. This department is responsible for road construction, drainage ditch work, winter snow and ice removal, and any other construction and maintenance work as needed.

The Fire Department is made up of approximately 40 dedicated, hard working volunteers. Each year they respond to over 200 calls for fire, medical and other emergency services. The Fire Department covers Hepburn Township, most of Lycoming Township and other parts of Lycoming County. With the help of the Ladies Auxiliary and the Fire Police, this department raises 85% of their operating budget from fund- raisers such as: weekly bingo, carnivals, chicken barbecues, and social hall banquets and rentals. This does not include the hundreds of hours they spend in training, maintaining equipment, and implementing fire prevention programs in our schools. The Planning Commission is comprised of five community members appointed by the Supervisors for a four-year term. It has the responsibility of reviewing, and approving proposed subdivisions within the township. This commission provides all necessary information to residents in order to complete a subdivision. After all Zoning Ordinances are reviewed, they recommend its approval or rejection to the board of supervisors.

The Auditors consist of three members who are elected by the residents for a six-year term. Their duties are to audit, settle and adjust the accounts of the Supervisors, Road Master, Treasurer, and Tax Collector. They also set compensation for the Supervisors.

The Zoning Hearing Board consist of three community members appointed by the Board of Supervisors for staggered three-year terms. Their primary duty is to hear cases upon individual request pertaining to any possible deviation to the Zoning Ordinance. This includes Variances, Appeals, Special Exceptions, and Interpretation of the Zoning Officer.
